She certainly inspired Scott to write novels after he was mostly known as a poet. Desperate Reader, I remember you weren't madly excited by The Absentee. I'm looking forward to reading Castle Rackrent one of these days. Karen, there are several Edgeworths in print in Oxford & Penguin editions & they're also available as free e-books from Manybooks.net (& probably other sites as well) if your bookclub members have e-readers. She's probably a good choice for an Austen-related read.lynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04509400868331534237noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3020849054403226268.post-60535433452790464132011-09-01T05:05:29.771+10:002011-09-01T05:05:29.771+10:00This sounds interesting -- I only wish my library ...This sounds interesting -- I only wish my library had enough copies for our Jane Austen book group! We've worked our way through all six of her novels and now we're trying to read about other authors she influenced and who influenced her. This would be so perfect for our group! I definitely want to read it anyway. Thanks for the review!Karen K.https://www.blogger.com/profile/13483190930383406559noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3020849054403226268.post-33593177505793654892011-08-31T07:04:13.207+10:002011-08-31T07:04:13.207+10:00I liked this one but liked Castle Rackrent more. I have been feeling too overwhelmed by my book piles and having so many library books checked out at once so returned a huge pile of them! Glad to hear you liked this one, though. I also have Belinda--my own copy, so will have to check her out sometime soon.Daniellehttp://www.danitorres.typepad.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3020849054403226268.post-8761590021442455602011-08-30T05:54:27.908+10:002011-08-30T05:54:27.908+10:00I love that Austen quote.
