I discovered yesterday that if you can download the PDF rather than the ePub file, the scanning glitches aren't apparent because the PDF is a direct picture of the book. The ePub files are a little wonky because they're scanned but I've read 4 now & none of them were so bad that I couldn't read the book. My library has all the DES reprints (because I do the buying!) but none of the older editions.lynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04509400868331534237noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3020849054403226268.post-5001311530268525352014-06-01T04:01:42.293+10:002014-06-01T04:01:42.293+10:00I loved this book, my introduction to the work of ...I loved this book, my introduction to the work of D.E. Stevenson. I am now on a hunt to read as many of her books as I can find. Luckily, my library has a few.

Thanks for the Open Library link, Lyn. I'm reading another DES at the moment & every now & then, there's a page of complete gobbledygook. I can keep track of the story so it's not stopping me from reading but it's not a perfect system.lynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04509400868331534237noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3020849054403226268.post-25727902813106823182014-04-18T21:48:59.660+10:002014-04-18T21:48:59.660+10:00Thanks, I'm sure I'll be using Open Librar...Thanks, I'm sure I'll be using Open Library in the future, so many books which I want to read are out of print or rare so are wildly expensive.Katrinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18138715309807238198noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3020849054403226268.post-54641651034339224662014-04-17T10:06:03.458+10:002014-04-17T10:06:03.458+10:00Thanks Rose. Stevenson for years so this one is going on my LynList after reading your review. I'm going to have a lovely look in the Open Library over the Easter weekend.Rosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14751315680374413649noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3020849054403226268.post-43633172976818781332014-04-17T07:55:09.784+10:002014-04-17T07:55:09.784+10:00It's a lovely, comforting book with no surpris...It's a lovely, comforting book with no surprises, Lori, & sometimes that's what I want to read. I enjoy Mary Stewart too & have quite a few of her books on the shelf that I want to reread. Stevenson's read so far, so your review makes me sure I would like this one too. Books with old houses get me too, and it's another vintage one of those single young woman on her own having adventures sort of books I love, such as Mary Stewart wrote.
