Reminds me of Simon & Garfunkel's I Am A Rock. All that teenage angst, why doesn't anyone love me? Much more poignant as we get older.lynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04509400868331534237noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3020849054403226268.post-62899202413973928472013-06-02T11:13:39.947+10:002013-06-02T11:13:39.947+10:00I agree, Lori. In others - Quartet in Autumn (which, in the end, I couldn't read), Sweet Dove - the melancholy is almost overwhelming. Probably why I've reread the humourous books much more often than the others.lynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04509400868331534237noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3020849054403226268.post-3500939426015185952013-06-02T10:49:44.701+10:002013-06-02T10:49:44.701+10:00Absolutely beautiful. I would have loved this as an 18 year old oh so many years ago. ;-)Travellin Penguin - Pamhttp://travellinpenguin.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3020849054403226268.post-53832986895201194492013-06-02T09:58:08.799+10:002013-06-02T09:58:08.799+10:00Hello Lyn, I have two unread Barbara Pym books fr...Hello Lyn, I have two unread Barbara Pym books from the library which I suppose now is the right time to read, with the reading week going on! I've always had mixed feelings over her books, as they are very readable and attractive, but many of them have a underlying sadness, and one gets the impression that she is sometimes presenting the characters as rather pathetic. I too read The Sweet Dove Died several years ago and had the same melancholy feeling as you about it. Some of her stories are just more fun than others I suppose!Lorihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11834243825586087161noreply@blogger.com
