Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to everyone who visits I Prefer Reading. Thank you for dropping by & leaving comments. I'll be thinking about my Books of the Year over the next few days, posting my lists & enjoying reading everyone else's. I'll also have another list of the books I didn't quite get to in 2012. I'll probably also make my usual New Year's Resolution to stop buying books for a while & read the hundreds I already have.

I hope you all have a lovely, peaceful day. After lunch with my family, Lucky, Phoebe & I will be settling down to watch Scrooge with Alistair Sim or maybe A Christmas Carol with Michael Hordern or Patrick Stewart or George C Scott... It's not an easy decision to make. I failed to get a photo of the girls lolling around the Christmas tree so here's my favourite pictures of them both (separately, of course) as they wish you all a Merry Christmas.

  2. Happy Christmas to you - and good luck with the resolution to buy no more books! I've said things like that in the past, but I never stick to it...

    1. Merry Christmas, Christine. I make this resolution every year & one year I managed three months without buying books. I'll take a deep breath & see how I go.

  6. A very happy Christmas, Lyn! The Alastair Sim version is the only one we ever watched, and I'll be getting my DVD out later (it's traditional Christmas Eve viewing in my family).

    1. I watched Alistair Sim again last night & cried at the end as always. I love the way they use Barbara Ellen in the movie & the scene when Scrooge goes to Fred's for dinner always makes me cry. I hope you enjoyed your umpteenth viewing.

  9. Best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year! Thanks for sharing your life and your cats. As soon as my husband gets up, there will be presents for our three cats. I think they enjoy opening them as much as they do the toys!

    1. Thank you Joan. I hope you & your family & the cats have a lovely New Year. Phoebe enjoyed playing with the wrapping paper from my presents yesterday, she loved the scrunchy noise it made.

  12. I think my comment was 'eaten' so will try again. Hope you had a really lovely holiday--as relaxed as your kitties look! I want to try and read more from my own stacks next year, too. And I'm thinking about my faves as well--looking forward to seeing your lists!

    1. Merry Christmas, Dani. I think these photos express their personalities. Phoebe is completely relaxed & is obviously entitled to any attention that comes her way. Lucky is more nervous & unsure but appreciates her comfort. We had a lovely Christmas & are enjoying a week off before I go back to work.

    1. Merry Christmas Lynne. Are you surprised that Magnus loves turkey? I think he's definitely in the Phoebe class of cats - knows his worth & accepts all offerings as his due! I'm looking forward to another year of blogging & reading everyone else's blogs as well.
