Hot Cross Bun time again
Every Easter I make hot cross buns for morning tea at work & yesterday I made this batch. The buns with the V on them are for a couple of vegan colleagues. They're exactly the same, just without the egg wash. The baker's privilege is to have a small bun just out of the oven so I can report that they're delicious. I say this every year but I don't know why I don't make fruit buns at any other time of the year. They'd be just as yummy without the crosses but I know I won't make another batch until next Easter.

They look so yummy. Wish I lived next door to you. Love these.
ReplyDeleteI wish you did too, Pam. You'd be welcome to a bun or two.
DeleteThese look delicious! I love a good hot cross bun on Easter. And I am impressed that you did a vegan version, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you, they're nearly all gone! The vegan ones were easy, I just left out the egg wash. I use oil instead of butter in the recipe so there were no other vegan nasties in them.
DeleteThey look delicious, I'll just have to feast my eyes on them and imagine the taste. I usually bake something for Easter but I'm not sure if I'll do it this year. Can I ask for the recipe or is it a well kept secret? :)
ReplyDeleteThe recipe's very long & complicated but I think most recipes are the same. Here's one that's similar to mine but I use oil instead of butter & probably double the amount of spice.

Yet another reason I wish I worked with you Lyn.
ReplyDeleteThere aren't many left, Rose. It's the quick or the hungry around here!
